01.08.2022

Within the scope of the "Women's Hand in Industry" project, which was initiated by TOBB Yalova Women Entrepreneurs Board with the slogan "If there is a woman, there is a tomorrow", the cooperation protocol with Yalova Makine OSB, which participated and supported the project, was signed at a ceremony held in Yalova Governor's Office.

The signing ceremony hosted by Yalova Governor Muammer Erol was attended by YTSO Chairman Tahsin Becan, TOBB Yalova Women Entrepreneurs Board President Merva Gençer and Yalova Machinery Organized Industrial Zone Board Chairman Direnç Özdemir.

President Becan, who gave information about the "Women's Hand in Industry" project initiated by the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Board with the aim of bringing women and disadvantaged women who have received education but have not participated in employment, especially those living in rural areas and wanting to work, to industrial employment, emphasized the importance of increasing the number of women with equal population in employment. He said that this aim is the starting point of the project. Stating that increasing women's employment in the province will provide significant economic benefits to our country, Becan thanked Direnç Özdemir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yalova Machinery Organized Industrial Zone, who participated and supported the project.

TOBB Yalova Women Entrepreneurs Board President Merva Gençer said, “As Yalova KGK, we aim to increase women's participation in the economy by increasing women's employment in the industry in our province. I would like to express how important our project is for our city. As in the whole world, women's participation in working life has developed in parallel with industrialization in our country. In fact, our country underlined the importance of women in society years ago by giving women the right to vote and be elected before many developed countries. However, at the point we have reached today, we see that our women still do not have a sufficient place in economic life. In our country, the participation of women in the workforce is unfortunately far behind developed countries. In 2021, 49.9% of Turkey's population is women and 50.1% is men. While the female labor force participation rate was 24.5 percent in 2008, the female labor force participation rate is 30.9 percent according to 2020 data. The increase in the labor force participation rate of women in our country in recent years is promising.
