Shopkeepers are in Difficult Situation, Their Expenses Should Be Deducted…
Tahsin BECAN, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (YTSO), stated that the recently increased electricity, natural gas, fuel, labor and input costs have caused serious cost problems in many sectors, from tradesmen to industrialists.
Tahsin BECAN, Chairman of the Board of Yalova TSO, stated that the recent hikes in electricity, natural gas, fuel, labor and input costs put tradesmen, traders, transporters and industrialists in a difficult situation and said that a solution should be found for this situation.
In his statement, President Becan said, "With the reflection of the increase in electricity and natural gas bills in recent months, it has put every sector in serious trouble, from our smallest tradesman to our largest industrialist. We have tradesmen who are faced with paying electricity and natural gas bills, almost three times the rent they pay. We regret to see that there are cost increases of more than 100 percent. Due to the increasing costs, our tradesmen, traders and industrialists face the danger of being unable to maintain their current status, let alone making a profit. In addition, with the hikes in fuel products, our members operating in the transportation and shipping sector have started to experience serious difficulties.
Energy costs should be reduced by evaluating the sectors that are seriously affected by these increases and by making sector-based applications. In developed countries in the world, some tax regulations such as income tax and public penalties vary according to their income. Even our citizens who have health problems at home have to use their electrical medical devices 24 hours a day, so they have difficulty in meeting their electricity expenses. In this sense, it would be a reasonable practice to determine the pricing of energy costs in our country according to the situation of the enterprises, that is, it is necessary to distinguish between small enterprises and large enterprises. The unit price per kw paid by small tradesmen with low turnover and high turnover companies should be different. Every configuration must be considered on getting less from less winners and more from more winners. Unfortunately, there is no profitability in most sectors, and there has been a slight increase in profits in some sectors. However, even if it seems that the work has been done as a result of the turnovers, the expenses have exceeded the revenues.
Since January, rising costs with the increase in electricity, natural gas, fuel, labor and input costs have made commercial activities almost unsustainable. A solution must be found as soon as possible for our tradesmen, traders and industrialists who are in a difficult situation in the face of these cost increases.
We demand from our state elders to seriously consider the increases in these three items and to find a solution. We reported the meetings we had with our members in Yalova and forwarded them to the Ministry. The unit prices should be different according to the sectors in reducing the energy costs of the tradesmen and in billing. Otherwise, the problems that arise in many businesses these days may become even more intractable in the coming months, but our state and our tradesmen can overcome all problems by acting with a common mind.”
